Global insurance IT spending to reach $140bn by 2018, says Ovum

July 23, 2014 - CIOs are expanding their IT budgets to drive a new set of IT priorities as insurance market conditions improve, according to new research by Ovum*. In mature markets, there is a focus on improving operational efficiency and organisational flexibility, while in developing markets, close attention is being paid to expanding core platforms and infrastructure to support growth. These factors will drive global insurance IT spending to over $104bn by 2018.

20% of UK Organisations Believe Malicious Insiders Pose Biggest Threat to Security

July 18, 2014 - A survey amongst 250 IT security professionals, conducted during this year's Infosecurity Europe show, has revealed that 20% of organisations believe malicious insiders pose the biggest threat to their security. A further 44% suggest employee's ignorance could also cause defences to crumble. Hardly surprising, then, that this audience firmly pointed the finger at 'people' (70%) as the most frequent point of failure in an organisation's IT security, with 20% citing processes and just 9% at technology.

New Cyber Security Study Shows 64% of Companies Expect to be Target of Cyber Attack within the Next Year

July 9, 2014 -  Bit9® + Carbon Black, the leader in endpoint threat prevention, detection and response, today announced the results of a cyber security study which showed that nearly two-thirds (64%) of UK IT decision-makers said they expect their organisation to be the target of a cyber attack within the next 12 months. And nearly one in three (32%) of those surveyed confirm their business was hit by a cyber attack during the past year.
